I Love You Phillip Morris

This is a story of a relentless conman who will do anything to be with his jailbird lover.

The plot had a good pace and the unlikely nature of Steve Russell's (Jim Carey) escapades meant there was no room for boredom and plenty of room for laughs with just a hint of cringe. The misdirection in the script was well placed and worked to shock me and the entire audience into gasps and groans.

There was more of Jim Carrey than I was ever hoping to see in this or any other film and at times Ewan looked uncomfortable in his openly gay housewife skin. This said, the unlikely couple nailed the flirtation scenes even if the more tender moments were less convincing.

Overall this was a funny film about the extremes people will go to for love. The fact this was a true story made this unconventional yet popularist romcom all the more enjoyable. Probably unnecessary to go to the cinema for this one but a definite to put on your rental list.
